...one...

Sweet Avery Jane,

Exactly one year ago, plus a few hours, you were born into our lives, handed over into our arms, and permanently sealed within our hearts. You have made this the craziest most wonderful year ever. Your presence has made us stronger, kinder, gentler, more patient, sillier, happier than we've ever been. You are a true testament to God's hand in our lives. You are a gift, and may we always treasure you.

You remind me that I shouldn't spend my life stressing over the small details, and that I should simply enjoy the day with you. I wasn't so good at that today, but once we sat you down to dinner, the pure joy on your face at the mess you were allowed to make made me forget about all of the stress I placed on myself. Just so you know, cake doesn't come at the end of every meal now that you're one. But I promise you'll get it a couple more times this week, to make this celebration last a bit.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Don't mind the poor decorating job - we were lucky to have cake at all at this point in the day.
Cake is good, but making a mess is better!
What meal is complete without a little digging around?
Thanks Grandmommy and Granddaddy for my new ride!

What a clever girl, staying so blonde with those big blue eyes. Good girl, she'll be happy she did that.
